لماذا يهمّ ذلك

The agreement is intended to open a humanitarian route to residents of the occupied and heavily mined city, facilitate deliveries of food and medicine, and enable safe movement while mines are cleared.

ماذا حدث

A limited humanitarian ceasefire was agreed in the Russian-occupied southern Ukrainian city of Oleschky in Kherson Oblast. Kyiv and Moscow said they would observe the ceasefire, while Ukraine’s General Staff described the pause as temporary and exclusively humanitarian. During it, food and medicine are to be delivered and arrangements made for people to move freely. Because Oleschky is heavily mined, mines are to be cleared to create a safe aid corridor. Ukrainian forces have also used drones to deliver assistance, with many reportedly shot down by Russian troops. The initiative was attributed to the White House, and the US government said First Lady Melania Trump mediated the local agreement. Oleschky lies a few kilometres south of the Dnipro, which separates Russian-occupied territory from Ukrainian-held territory, and it has been caught in cross-border drone and artillery fire.

The Ukrainian General Staff said the temporary pause was intended exclusively for the humanitarian operation. In a separate overnight missile attack on Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian ballistic missiles hit near a university and in busy residential districts, with no military facility nearby. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported at least one person killed, at least eight injured, and damage to several buildings and an ambulance; two rescue workers were also injured.
