Envoy US Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and other European representatives in Oslo on 20 October, before travelling to St Petersburg to meet Vladimir Putin on 21 October. The roughly three-hour meeting centred on the war in Ukraine; Putin said Russia was ready in principle to resume trilateral talks in the second half of November and announced the release of American Stephen Hubbard.
