الملك هاكون الثامن ملك النرويج
كان هاكون الثامن ملكاً للنرويج من عام 1905 حتى عام 1957. اعتلى العرش عندما فكّت النرويج اتحادها مع السويد، فأصبح أول ملوك الدولة المستقلة حديثاً. خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية قاد الحكومة النرويجية المنفية في لندن ورفض التنازل عن العرش تحت الاحتلال الألماني، فأصبح رمزاً لوحدة المقاومة. وُلد باسم الأمير كارل من الدنمارك، وانتُخب ملكاً من قبل البرلمان النرويجي (الستورتنغ) بعد استفتاءٍ أكّد نهاية الاتحاد.

Envoy US Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and other European representatives in Oslo on 20 October, before travelling to St Petersburg to meet Vladimir Putin on 21 October. The roughly three-hour meeting centred on the war in Ukraine; Putin said Russia was ready in principle to resume trilateral talks in the second half of November and announced the release of American Stephen Hubbard. Witkoff said Oslo's talks were productive and that there were grounds for a ceasefire.
