After the US midterm elections on 3 November, the Democratic Party secured control of both chambers of Congress. This could allow it to advance new aid for Ukraine, potentially overcoming President Donald Trump’s veto, and to block the weakening of sanctions against Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he hopes the new congressional balance will bring greater US support.
