Around 21:40 on 26 October, Russia launched the first ballistic attack on Kyiv. Strikes occurred near a metro station, a university dormitory and a school. Around 03:00–03:30 on 27 October, a second wave hit Kyiv, including an administrative building on Podil, non-residential properties, Pivdennyi Bridge and metro infrastructure. The Air Force described Kyiv as the main direction of the overnight attack and reported that 257 aerial targets had been downed or suppressed by 09:00, including two ballistic missiles and 255 drones. Impact sites and falling debris were recorded at 25 and 16 locations respectively.
As a result of the two waves, one person was killed and 14 or 15 people were injured, depending on the update. Nine of the 14 initially reported injured were hospitalized. Among the injured were 13 people aged 19 to 59 in Desnianskyi district and a 22-year-old man in Obolon district. Most of those injured in the first wave were reported to be students living in a university dormitory, and two members of an emergency medical team travelling to a call were also injured.
